The Olive Water Boatman is an excellent early season fly, at this time of the year just after the ice melts there are two main food sources to be had, Leaches and the Water Boatman. The water is too cold in many areas for hatches to occur. I have personally had fantastic first week action with the Olive Water Boatman on the Saugeen & Maitland Rivers in Ontario.
